Items with a red label are then removed from the workplace. The more lean (lean) workplace of goods that are not needed, the more efficient the workplace will be.

Activities to get rid of items that are not needed at work and sorting are also done to group items of the same type.
The purpose of the first "S" is "cleaning up early", by eliminating wasteful movements in searching for tools and materials, making it easy to search by distinguishing unused items, items with frequent or rare use, and items with fast, moderate turnaround or slow.

• Medium-use goods are goods that are used for a period of 1-3 months.
• Items that are of low use are items used above 3 months or goods that have been planned for the next 6 months will not be used.
• In the field implementation, a red tag tool is also used to mark the item with no use status.
The application of 5S must be carried out in stages according to the order, if the first stage (seiri) is not done well, then the next stage will not be able to run optimally, and so on.
